November 30: The First Sunday of Advent
This coming Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent and the first Sunday of the new church year. Advent is a time to concentrate on the coming of Christ, which for us is a two-part situation as the inauguration of his coming kingdom has already occurred, but the consummation has not.
The sermon this Sunday will be on preparation for the coming of Christ specifically from Luke 21 where we are warned about our hearts being weighed down. Of course, the gospel is the remedy! The related hymns we’ll sing are:
Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven
Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us
Come, Thou-Long Expected Jesus
